The Washington State University College of Nursing, Peer Workforce Alliance, is concerned about Washington State's mental health. We are setting up community forums so people with mental health and/or substance use challenges who are missing their regular meetings and groups can check in with like-minded, recovery-oriented individuals. We will have Certified Peer Counselors, Recovery Coaches, Mental Health Professionals and Nurses available by appointment. To make an appointment please call the PWA at 360-350-8093. If you are in crisis please contact 911 or 211 We Are Peer For You! Community Connections.
Monday: 55+ Peer Perspectives with Laurel Lemke and Tanyalee Erwin 12:00-1:00 pm Join Weekly Here
Laurel Lemke and Tanyalee Erwin, Certified Peer Counselors invite seniors, senior peers and family members to share ideas, resources and messages of hope as we navigate pathways to resiliency. We will have an open conversation in this on-line gathering to share ideas of coping in this new world of social distancing, shelter-at-home, and growing forward. They have been joined by guest contributors who discussed eating for wellness and staying healthy, how to improve your home environment ( clutter/hoarding), setting and keeping your own boundaries, finding meaning as a volunteer and ways to support veterans. Topics come from participant's suggestions as well as keeping mentally healthy, finding purpose, being meaningful and contributing when you can’t leave the house, creating your own Wellness Recovery Action Plan, AARP updates, dealing with change and other relevant ways to improve your day. We look forward to meeting you and having you be part of this important 55+ virtual community. Resources gathered from sessions will be posted on https://powersource.club/, a peer group Laurel and Tanyalee co-founded with Michael Hardie. You can also get updates on the Peer Workforce Alliance Facebook page or by subscribing to the PWA newsletter email list.
